AVOID ROOF COATING SCAMS
ROOF COATING SCAMS: TAKE YOUR TIME. OR GET TAKEN
Roof coatings are a great product. They can help bring new economy and energy efficiency to your building and its existing roof. But not all “contractors” are great, or even honest. Sadly, too many building owners have been scammed and hurt financially by the dishonest!
If you are promised a “miracle” roof coating at an unbelievable price, run! The coating could be little more than water, or possibly engine oil, with no benefit except to the scam artist who applies it. This approach is completely opposite to the way Structure Roof & Wall Solutions works.
Our multi-step process, which includes an essential preparation step, is unsurpassed in our industry. What’s more, we’re sure to be here with you before, during, and even after our work is done.
IF IT SOUNDS CHEAP, IT IS CHEAP.
It pays to do a little research before you select a roof coating contractor. Most cheap roofs are just that cheap, providing less than satisfactory results. But they’re not inexpensive either. Scammers use low-priced, low –quality products and apply it to your roof with no preparation or needed repairs. They may give you a warranty. But they’ll be long gone before you even have time to read it. Even worse, the coating on your roof will need repairs or lead to extensive and expensive water damage before you know it.
HIGH PRESSURE SELL: LOW QUALITY JOB
We expect you to get competitive bids before you hire Structure Roof & Wall Solutions. In fact, we encourage it. Just be sure you compare preparation and process, as well as prices and guarantees. No matter who you select, don’t let a high pressure salesperson push you into a quick decision based on a low price. Remember, a price that’s too good to be true will rarely be good, or true. Take some time for research and make your choice based on previous work and a satisfied, local client base. If a contractor is vague about the materials they use, how they apply them, or can’t point to bona fide previous local customers, they’re not for you. A reputable, professional contractor will answer all of your questions and more.
A WARRANTY IS PAPER. YOUR ROOF IS NOT
Reputable roof coating contractors have history and a list of satisfied clients. Their trucks look well-used, not showroom new. Their terms don’t include words like “down payment” and their sales tactics aren’t built around dishonesty, low bids and promises of quick turnarounds. You can expect these “companies” to be gone even before their “coatings” are dry.
Commercial building owners should always:
- Check contractors ID and be sure their logo is on both vehicles and employee clothing
- Ask about insurance and work guarantees, not just a product warranty
- Verify with the coating manufacturer that they are a certified applicator
- Also verify the manufacturer warranty provided is legitimate
There is a clear-cut reason to research potential contractors for any service. It pays to choose the professionals who have built a reputation through years of satisfied customers.
